Welcome to BSIO

Leading the way in integrative oncology in the UK

BSIO is the leading professional organisation for integrative oncology in the UK. Our goal is to promote the integration of conventional, nutritional, lifestyle and complementary medicine to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

For professionals, BSIO facilitates communication, provides educational resources and disseminates research and evidence to promote effective integrative care for patients with a cancer diagnosis. BSIO committee members do not necessarily support all the policies or practices of the members of BSIO, who represent a diverse range of philosophical perspectives and professional backgrounds. They are, however, committed to encouraging balanced debate and promoting more evidence-informed decisions, which consider the person’s preferences and enable them to benefit from integrative cancer care.

On this site you will find more information about our organisation, how to join us as a member and how to support our work by donation.

We hosted our 2024 online Annual Conference 'Integrative oncology across the age spectrum' on Saturday 20th April.

This online event highlighted the benefits of taking an evidence-informed integrative approach to cancer care to optimise quality of life and clinical outcomes across the age spectrum.

The day offered a wonderful opportunity to dive deeper into integrative oncology with a diverse and multidisciplinary panel of speakers, including Prof. Eran Ben-Arye (keynote), Dr Chelsea Ash, Dr Katerina Bambang, Dr Amy Mitchell, Hanna Simpson, Danni Freeth, Prof. Robert Thomas, Taonga Phiri, Dr Isabel White, Dr Fabio Gomes, Fiona Henderson, and a specialist team from The Christie.

All sessions were recorded and available for attendees to view on the Whova app for 3 months following the event.

BSIO Annual Conference 2023

We hosted our 2023 online Annual Conference 'Multidisciplinary perspectives and collaboration for better patient outcomes' on Saturday 11th March.

The event offered a unique opportunity to discuss diverse topics in integrative oncology practice and how they can contribute to better patient resilience and improved clinical outcomes. The day was a huge success, made possible due to our impressive panel of oncologists, integrative doctors and researchers, nurse specialists, nutrition and mind-body experts, chaired by the wonderful Sheila Dillon. All sessions were recorded and available for attendees to view on the Whova app for 3 months following the event.
